Ballet Folklorico
We are BACK!! Practices have resumed this week beginning on Monday 2/6. Click here 2012 LHS Ballet Folklorico Practice Schedule.pdf for our practice schedule. We will be focusing on two regions: Sinaloa and Jalisco.
This 2011-2012 year marks the fourth year of Liberty High School's Folklorico dance group! Practices are regularly held on Mondays and Wednesdays for 2 hours directly after school in the LHS theater.
We have a wonderful dance instructor, Cecilia Rios of Ballet Folklorico de Madera, who will be preparing the group for dance performances at various events and locations.
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

Important Dates and Times
This Friday 9/2…Concessions for Football game. Meet at the gate of the Football field at 4:30 p.m. We will be serving “Mexican Bowls”. The following people have signed up to bring:
Danny and David—Frijoles (beans)
Abraham—Arroz (rice)
Adrian—Carne (meat—should be seasoned; will also bring pan and extension cord to heat)
Silvino—Crema (sour cream)
Miguel—Chile/Salsa
Encarnacion—Tortilla Chips and Forks
Mrs. Lane—Lechuga (lettuce) y (and) Queso (cheese)
***Everyone should bring enough to serve at least 50 “Mexican Bowls” if not more. All food items should be prepared and hot ahead of time. Bring utensils to serve with as well. If it’s something to be kept hot, then bring an electric cord/extension cord to plug it in. We will be selling the “Mexican Bowls”, which will be all of the food items in a bowl, layered, for a complete meal/dish in one. We will be selling this item for $______. This will be our first fundraiser of the year. Let’s make it count!
Fall Food Faire Friday 9/9
This event occurs during the lunch period. What do we want to sell? Let me know what you want and what you’re willing to bring. If you have a parent or someone who can help with the food, please let me know!
Mexican Independence Day Friday 9/16
We will be hosting the 2nd annual salsa making contest. We are charging an entry fee of $2 per contestant and the winner receives a $20 gift card to the movies. We will also be performing that day during lunch. All of you will be expected to dance/dress-out for this event. You will also need to help set up the sound equipment during 4th period.
Parent Meeting
We need to have a parent meeting as soon as possible to establish our Ballet Folklorico booster club. Let’s plan on meeting on a Tuesday night in September. Please have your parents contact me with a date that works best for them.
