Art I- Class Syllabus
Weekly Assignments - all assignments will be started and finished in the art classroom.
Spring Semester
May 7th - May 11th:
Art History notes for the Impressionist period and a (1) Pointallism artwork.
April 16th - May 4th:
Student are creating a (1) Coloring Page, a (2) Political Cartoon and working on an (3) Open Project. The Political Cartoon was discussed in corrolation with an Art History lesson/notes on Neoclassical & Romantic art.
March 5th - April 13th:
Students will be working on our longest, multi-faceted group project that includes (1) Designing a dream Home (2) Creating a "Floor Plan" in scale (3) showing how the rooms work by making a Furniture Plan (4) drawing their room in full color with a Design Image of the room and finally (5) making a scale model of the home they designed.
January 9th - February 3rd:
We have begun working on Perspective Drawing with the following assignments: (1) Collage in Perspective (2) Monochromatic Painting in Perspective. Both works will be accompanied with drawing notes and Art History notes for the Italian Renaissance.
Fall Semester
Nov. 28th - Dec. 16th: Project (1) Old English Lettering and (2) Pen and Ink Art Project (3) Brush and Ink Art Project
Nov. 7th - Nov. 18th:
Students have turned in all work (Mosaic, Gesture Drawing Pckt., and 2 Open Projects.) and finished studying first Art History Exam material. Exam 1 for Benchmark week.
October 10th - Nov. 4th:
Students are continuing to work on their (1) Mosaic Project. Because of the time and length of this project they will also be working on their drawing skills. A (2) Gesture Drawing Packet will comprise of most of these drawing; from shade and shadowed blocks and fabric to portraits of classmates. These drawing series of lessons will last several weeks.
September 12th - Sept. 30th:
Students will be working on (1) the Symmetry Project, a painted image using repeated words. They will also be compiling a collection of (2) contour practice drawings for the Contour Drawing Packet.
Students will have to take notes during the Art History Lecture for ancient Greek and Roman Art and begin to work on (3) a Mosaic inspired from the period.
August 29th - September 9th:
Students will be working to complete and turn in for grade (1) Superimposed drawing project (2) painted Modern Color Wheel (3) create an Artist Logo and (4) work to personalize their Artist Folder for the class.
