Digital Art
This course is not a Photo class but an art 1 experience through the use some digital media!
Required:
5x7 or larger personal sketch book, pencils
Recommended items: Portable USB drive 1GB or larger
Introduction & objectives:
This course is digital media to reflect the fact that your digits (i.e. your fingers), not to mention your eyes and brain, are still the primary artistic tools you utilize to produce your art. The computer is an almost infinitely flexible tool with which you can render creative and aesthetically compelling artwork in many forms. However, first you must establish basic working skills in which all forms of art are grounded (color, composition, texture, form, line, space and perspective, etc). These working assets must be tightly linked to the creative potential you bring to the easel or monitor. A new type of art can be achieved when all these points come together. But, remember, the computer is not a cure-all for poor traditional grounding in the artistic process. It really is nothing more than alternative forms of paper, cans of paint, brushes and pens. The key to art achievement is the full development of artistic principles in concurrence with your art media. What you do in this new media depends on you, but the time and effort you put into it will directly affect the final outcome.
Course Structure: Class will be based on structure and personal responsibility towards the current project completion. The majority of the class time will be given to in class work and instruction/demonstration. Partial time will be allotted to group projects, discussion, vocabulary and content material.
